Good morning scrappers! Today we are going to get a little circular inspiration. Typically I am a square and rectangle scrapping kinda girl. I never can seem to get things to fit the way I want them to when it comes to circles. Looking through the galleries, I see so many more square and rectangle scrapping than circle! So, today we are going to look at some examples from Amanda’s gallery and from other sources. Just some ideas to get those circle kinda layouts started.
Visiting Gigi by MelissaMarti
A great idea! So many kits come with great papers & not really enough area to use them. MelissaMarti took all those papers and made them the bases of her layout. Really fills up the page in a great way! Compliments the photo and gives it color!
Here is an example of using circle photos. This is where I struggle the most. I can never seem to make my photos work. As you can see, it seems to work best with a photo of your subject a bit away. fifilur also did a great example of complimenting shapes. Triangle and circles are the complete opposite of each other! She did a great job of using both circle and triangular items in her layout. They really balance each other out!
I nominated this layout for one of the Gallery Stand Out posts. One of these days I am going to scrap lift this! Everything has a place & everything in it’s place. Very symmetrical and great use of circles balance out the layout and give everything that place.
Not everything has to be obviously circular. You can add a circle cut paper here and there. Or you can do as mimisgirl did and layer it up circle style. When first looking at this layout, you wouldn’t really notice that it has a circular feel to it. Firstly I noticed that sweet photo! Then I noticed the large and well done clustering. Then…”hey! look at all those fun circles!”
Not going to lie…I am shawnbear. I usually do not showcase my layouts on this blog. However, this is the layout that gave me the idea to talk about scrapping with circles. You can always keep your photos square and rectangular. Frame it all and give a good base against a bold paper with some big & fun circles!
I did mention that we wold take a look at other examples as well, right? I was looking around on Pinterest. I love that site! I just searched for “circle scrapbook layouts” and here are some great examples that I found. (images linked to pin).
Here is a great example of using paint & tiny elements to frame your photos and really add a focal point to your layout. I especially like the curved journaling to add to the circular feel.
Another great example of framing your photo in a circle manner. Instead of just using a circle cut paper, she used elements to make the circle. That photo is so cute and the hearts framing it really adds to the love feeling of the layout.
I didn’t think of this! Like the 1st example from Amanda’s gallery, this scrapper used fun and patterened papers as the bases of their layout. All these circles to make a heart. Really makes that b&w photo pop! Right?
So, there are some fun examples of how to add some circles to your layout. Now, really you can use any digital scrapbooking kit and crop the circles you need. I looked around Amanda’s store though & found some items that seem to really jump out for circles. They are linked to the store. Happy Scrapping!
